Alpine Ski Length & Geometry Calculator
Blends manufacturer sizing methods (chin-to-eyebrow standard) with ability scaling, terrain offsets, and weight indices to determine optimal ski length, waist width, and turn radius.
Alpine ski length isn't a guess. Enter your height, weight, ability, and terrain and the calculator blends four manufacturer sizing methods into one recommendation — ski length, waist width, and turn-radius range — with the formula shown plainly so you can sanity-check it before you buy.

Educational tool only. This calculator gives a general sizing estimate from published manufacturer guidelines — it is not a substitute for a professional fitting. Ski choice depends on flex, rocker profile, boot sole length, binding compatibility, and your personal style. A certified ski shop or bootfitter makes the final recommendation; always have bindings mounted and release-tested by a certified technician before skiing. On this page

How this works
The foundational rule — stated the same way by Völkl, Blizzard, and Rossignol — is that a ski stood on end should reach somewhere between your chin and the top of your head (Völkl, Blizzard). This calculator sets a base length from that chin-to-head rule using an ability factor (Beginner 0.85 / Intermediate 0.90 / Advanced 0.95 / Expert 1.00), then applies a terrain offset drawn from Rossignol's published expert-level numbers (Frontside −5 cm, All-mountain 0, Powder +7 cm) (Rossignol via Summit Collective), and a weight adjustment of ±1 cm per 5 kg off the Broca reference weight (height − 100), capped at ±3 cm (Sport Calculator, Völkl). Waist width is set by terrain class from the consensus ranges at Switchback Travel and REI; turn radius is shown as the typical range for your class (evo). Adult, all-mountain/alpine skis only — not junior, nordic, touring, or FIS-regulated race skis.
